A U.S. citizen who lived in Turkey is among the nine people killed when Israeli commandos stormed a Turkish aid ship heading for the Gaza Strip, officials said today. The victim was identified as Furkan Dogan, 19, a Turkish-American. A forensic report said he was shot at close range, with four bullets in his head and one in his chest, according to the Anatolian news agency.

He wasn't serving on Flotilla as American but as an extreme Islamist which his tactical job was to confront aggressively the Israeli soldiers. In that case, the minute he attacked the Israelis they had all rights to defend themselves even by killing the attacker.
Israel action is a legal action by maritime international law, since Israel declared that no free sail is allowed into Gaza. It is well known that the Hamas never stopped smuggling weapons into Gaza and use it daily against Israel civilians. The law stands for Israel. The low politics stands for the Arabs’ oil.
In any case, Israel has the right to protect herself from the lunatic crazy extreme Islam. If the US ignore that right as regard only to Israel, so keep killing civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan. The world is silenced about it, because Muslims as such don't bother them. You are bothered only when Jews have the courage and ability to defend themselves.
